August Spirt of Nolanville Award: James Wickham

On August 18, 2022, Nolanville City Council Meeting, Mayor Andy Williams presented Mr. James Wickham from the Hill Country Transit District (The HOP) with a token of appreciation for his instrumental part in Nolanville’s new partnership with the HOP.

The City of Nolanville has a big heart for taking care of our residents, who are a part of the underserved, underrepresented and vulnerable population. As of July 1st, a new door opened with The HOP, allowing us to reach even more residents and freeing up our outreach staff to focus on other issues impacting these residents.

In June of 2022, City Manager Kara Escajeda and Assistant City Manager Crystal Briggs met with HOP officials Steven Beck and James Wickham to discuss a bus route that would come into the City limits for curb-to-curb transportation services. The City had a 2-week turnaround time to get this new service option advertised, residents qualified, signed up, approved, and educated on this new opportunity.

The quick turnaround was made possible in part by team members at The HOP and our staff here at City Hall, but a special mention has been made of James Wickham, who was our main point of contact for all the calls and emails for the launch and upkeep of this new to Nolanville service.

Mr. Wickham quickly answered every question the City threw at him and in such a personable way, always reminding us that the questions were not a bother and that he was excited that they were able to bring this program to Nolanville finally.

The City of Nolanville thanks you, James, and The HOP. Your commitment to the City of Nolanville is one of the many reasons we continue to be a "Great Place to Live"'
